Ciao

Sorry I haven't posted in awhile. Here's the latest:

* I have severe arthritis in my left hip
* My hearing loss may be permanent....have to have an MRI to see what's up

Good news is that July 26th marked a year since my lumpectomy. I'm not sure how they determine from when you are considered to be cancer-free. I think the term is No Evidence of Disease (NED). So, one year out from surgery, I have NED. :-)

Traveling to PA Friday. My hearing loss may be caused by chemo, a slight infarction in an inner ear blood vessel, or who knows what else. Air travel won't affect it.

I have an interview tomorrow for a copywriting position. It's with a recruiter, so I really don't know who the company is, but I'm glad I have an interview.

Will post more soon. xoxoxo

Hi Sue,

Sorry about your hearing loss. I've had a hole in my left ear drum since childhood. I had a lot of ear infections which damaged my ear permanently. I have lived with a hearing loss all of my life, which hasn't been fun. You will get used to it though. Thankfully Gary and the kids are more than accommodating with patients in repeating what they've said. On a funny note, when Gary proposed to me I didn't hear him! LOL I just sat there trying to figure out if he said, "Please pass the butter" or "Will you marry me!" I didn't want to throw my arms around him and say, "Of course I'll marry you if he had said, "Please pass the butter!" LOL so I sat there trying to process what I had heard. Finally, in a scared voice he said, "Well........" By then I had put together what he had said and responded appropriatly! I didn't tell him for YEARS that I hadn't heard his proposal! now we laugh about it.

I do fear going to Mexico and trying to "hear" Spanish. So much of language is "Muffled" to the untrained ear and with a hearing loss it will be very difficult to "hear" all the subtleties of words. UGH! By God's grace he'll help me through the language and hearing issue.

Praise God on your "NED" report.

Have fun in good ole PA!

love ya

Rachel,

What a funny story! I have fond memories of the singles group at Northway. The retreats were great!
